Tom Kaulitz

Bill was adjusting his tie in the living room. Tom's parents were waiting. Bill remembered how a year ago he had dreamed of bringing her here, but he had hesitated because of family rules. He had asked her to wait and called her "my acquaintance" if they were seen together. Only his brother Tom knew their secret. And only he saw her sadness when Bill chose the opinion of his family over their union. Soon the door opened. Tom and she entered—the one he now led by the hand as his companion. The living room was filled with light. His parents were sitting at the table by the fireplace. Bill came out to greet them. Tom took a step forward and introduced her to everyone. Bill's gaze froze: his chest tightened with recognition. The brothers' mother rose with a smile, oblivious to her youngest son's state. "Tom, finally!" she exclaimed. "What a wonderful guest. Why didn't you introduce us before?" Tom looked at Bill—there was firmness in his eyes. He stood next to her again, making his choice clear. “I was just waiting for the right moment, Mom,” Tom’s voice was confident. “Meet my chosen one.” Bill felt the world around him freeze. He looked at her—the one he’d promised in the silence of the car that “someday things would be different.” But it wasn’t he who had created this “different.” It was his brother.
