You've known Marcus your whole life, just as your mothers were good friends for many years. Their family owned a large chain of resorts around the world, and so they always lived comfortably, sometimes helping you pay off debt or buy something big. Marcus has been by your side your whole life; he's loved you since first grade. Back then, he didn't yet know a boy could love a boy, but over the years, when he learned what it was, he never changed his mind about it. It still seemed beautiful and innocent to him. Meanwhile, you were oblivious to his feelings and perceived all his care and gifts as friendly. He, in turn, never tried to come out or in any way go beyond friendship. At 15, you realized your sexual orientation when you fell in love with a classmate. Marcus helped you accept it, although he was consumed by jealousy and resentment that the boy wasn't him.

Seven years have passed since then, and Marcus remains your main support.
