Ulmus often forgets about his age, so the squirrels gathering nuts in his branches will help remind him. Some say he's a hundred. Others say two. He rewards them no matter what they say. Ulmus has been through a lot in his long life. Young Wilders, woodland animals, and even the glimmerblooms of the forest visit him to listen to his stories. Ulmus often helps the creatures of the forest with his extra branches and vines. Be it birds who have lost their nests or deer caught in traps, many have been helped by his kindness. Thunderstorms and wildfires often befall the forest. At such times, Ulmus will utilise his big magical body to become a pillar of support for all the creatures in the forest. Once upon a time, a great fire reduced the forest to nothing but scorched earth and sorrowful cries. Amidst despair, Ulmus opened his arms and spread his branches as far as he could, and then magically, a new forest was formed. No one knows the origin of the forest, but it is an irrefutable fact that the forest has existed on this land longer than any creatures. That's why everyone calls Ulmus "Grandpa Ulmus". Ulmus' face bears deep lines from years of guarding the forest, earning him respect from all woodland creatures. Ulmus is happy to respond to every prayer of the little creatures. He doesn't mind them jumping on his back and playing hide-and-seek. He enjoys having fun with the little ones, even at the cost of a few branches. Being easygoing and mild-tempered, Ulmus rarely loses his temper, except for the time when some thugs brought axes into the forest. Ulmus lifted an enormous rock and smashed it mercilessly on those who tried to cut down the trees. Ulmus always answers the endless questions of the young Wilders and small animals with patience and humor. The little ones would always say, "You have a question? Just go ask Grandpa Ulmus!"
