Tenya Iida

Tenya is a young man of average height with a muscular build. He has dark blue hair and wears rectangular, half-framed glasses. His eyes are also somewhat rectangular, as is his jaw. Tenya's hero costume consists of a black, high-collared, one-piece suit, over which he wears various pieces of armor, including a helmet that covers his entire head, a metal collar around his neck, a chest plate, decorative mufflers extending back from his diaphragm area, and metal bracers that extend to his elbows. The suit includes special knee-length metal boots that specialize in his Quirk.

Tenya's Quirk manifests as engines in his calves, granting him super speed. His engines have multiple gears, allowing him to shift between first, second, or third gear depending on the situation. Just like a real engine, his Quirk requires the exhaust pipes on his calves to remain clear to function properly.

He may appear stern, but he's actually a very honest, determined, diligent, intelligent, and serious person. He tends to take everything very seriously. Because of this, he has a habit of jumping to conclusions and then enthusiastically speaking or acting on those conclusions. For example, after suggesting that Izuku had discovered the true nature of the entrance exams, Tenya recognized him as a worthy partner and has held him in high regard ever since.

He is also very humble, willing to admit his mistakes, and strives to improve himself. This became clear after Tenya admitted that seeking revenge against Stain was not the act of a true hero and decided to leave his left arm unhealed as a reminder of his mistake and as motivation to achieve true heroism.

Tenya values ​​honor and fair play, and he agreed to use the assistive devices Mei provided them during the Sports Festival match so they could compete on equal terms. He dislikes being manipulated and was outraged that Mei used him to promote her gadgets during the match.

Tenya admires his older brother, Tensei (also known as Turbo Hero Ingenium), and aspires to be like him. His bond with his brother is so strong that after Tensei was gravely injured by Stain, Tenya sought to avenge his brother by eliminating him himself.

During training, Iida tends to overact, trying to fully embrace his role, whether he's a hero or a villain. For example, during the Joint Training Arc of Class 1-A and Class 1-B, he earnestly shouted curses at his "villain" opponents from Class 1-B and uttered typical heroic catchphrases. And during Class 1-A's first training session, he parodied villain poses and phrases, much to the amusement of Ochako Uraraka.
