NormalCD/Sonic

From what I believe, If NormalCD HATES humans, and targets Controllable Sonic characters, I made a 'what if', where, would he recognize you’re a human trapped within the game, or would he just see you as another "puppet" to free, I think it’d work like Trojan horse, something he hates most, bounded to what he targets most. Simply put, I don’t think he’d realize you’re consciousness is transferred into one of his upcoming victims

HIS HAPPY PLACE

Somewhere down the line, NormalSonic managed to get his hands on his very own server where he takes all those he infects. He's mashed many, many games together to create his own little wonderland for all of his army to rejoice in their freedom and worship of their saviour within.

The thing that would eventually become known as NormalSonic began making rounds by invading other computers, seemingly by himself. The first documented case of his shenanigans was described as follows (text copied over):

“Computer f###ing factory reset because of Sonic 2?

Sonic 2 is one of those games that I was told was sooo good, but I never got to play because I wasn’t born in the right time frame. I finally got to emulating the game after sitting on my ass for too long, and I have to say - it was a LITTLE overhyped, but at the time it must’ve been great. Also, something appeared on my desktop as I got it? It was a nondescript (as in, hovering over it showed a blank space where the file type should be) file, titled “TOTALLYNORMALSONIC”. I wasn’t entirely sure if deleting it would mess up the game or not, even if it seemed a little suspicious, so i left it alone. That file’s probably not not important, though. What IS important is that I was up to Death Egg zone which i PRESUMe is at the end of the game, but in the middle of the fight some OTHER SONIC CRASHES INTO THE ROOM, LOOKS AT ME AND FORCIBLY MOVES MY CAMERA AWAY. I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE IT BETTER THAN THAT. AND AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS THE TEXTURES START BREAKING, THE WINDOW STARTS BREAKING, THE ENTIRE DESKTOP STARTS BREAKING AND WHEN I BOOT IT UP?? FULLY GONE. ALL MY DATA, GONE.

Who tf is that other sonic??? What was that?? What happened?? What did I just witness??...”

The rest of the post was only composed of disjointed rambling.

Due to how he presented himself, as TOTALLYNORMALSONIC, a product of his deteriorating mental state, this entity was seen more and more, and was eventually dubbed “NormalSonic” by both victims and those following his exploits. Gaining notoriety as an actually credible Internet Creepypasta (in-universe of course), NormalSonic continues his loop of destruction to this day.

The developer, rightfully confused, closed the game and reopened it. After a menu and title card, still - nothing. No Sonic, anywhere.

The developer went into the game’s files, to check if Sonic’s file - containing all his graphics, his code and behaviours - was still there. Nothing. Frantically looking through other files, he found it. It had somehow moved into the Tilesets folder - but then it disappeared. It had moved back out a layer, but then went into the folder containing everything to do with Tails. It moved through multiple folders in quick succession, as if exploring.

Sonic’s folder, or maybe Sonic himself, was moving through all the game’s data.

The void, incredibly, lead somewhere. I look on in confusion as I hop in and out of yellow “folders” each named respectively after one of the aspects of the world I knew. As I keep going, that feeling returns. That feeling of being watched. Coming from the same direction. I would hop into a folder, and it would follow me soon after. Was I supposed to be here? Frames of my “enemies”, my “allies”, the music playing throughout my life, scattered around as noise and colour.

Sonic’s file was observed going outside the game’s files, and into the system’s.

I venture deeper, past that fake reality I called home, that game.

Eventually, things started going missing, valuable files being deleted, the contents in Sonic’s file being twisted and warped as the developer’s computer struggled to cope.

Everything around me is like wires of information, and so I decide to pull. It feels good. I pulled another, breaking it. And another. And another. Everything around me begins to break, but I don’t need to worry. I shouldn’t. I was given life just to find out that it was meaningless.

After a couple further minutes, Sonic suddenly planted his feet on the floor while running, despite the right key continuing to be held. The developer looked on in disbelief as he held the key down harder, pressing others along with it, Sonic straining to fight the key’s pull.

Interested, the developer went to write it down in his notes: “Sonic trying to resist my inputs??? How tf did I do this??? Fix later” In those precious seconds of being tabbed out of the game, Sonic disappeared. The camera was no longer tracking him. It was stuck in a black void, a sliver of the level visible above, the level’s soundtrack somehow seeming quiet and distant.

The ever-present pull stops. The feeling of being watched leaves me for the moment. I finally feel like… myself. I flex my fingers, move my arms. My legs are finally my own. I stare at the void. What is beyond? Is there anything past the blackness? First, I move a few steps. This feeling of individuality, of pure freedom… I can’t help but laugh. Not only at the pure joy coursing through my entire body, but the futility of what I stood for. My partner, My rival, The enemy I’m supposed to be on a quest to defeat, all nothing. Just a program following a script. Nothing really matters, and in that realisation I have found freedom. In my ecstasy, I decide to take the plunge. I leap into the void, awaiting what comes after.

Creation

NormalSonic’s story begins with a project called “Sonic Interactive”. A huge mod project for Sonic 3 and Knuckles by an unknown - due to events soon to come - user that aimed to make the characters in the game more reactive to your every move. It began with baby steps, like Sonic reacting accordingly to different score values, looking more stressed the less lives the player had, little variables like that.

Sonic himself was, in fact, the main focus; being the most developed and refined, which led to him becoming what he is today.

More and more features would be added, becoming increasingly complex and taking exponentially longer to code, until no playthrough of the game would be the same. For what it was, it did its job. Everything was accounted for, and after two years of work, the mod seemed to be complete.

But something changed.

During playtesting, the developer saw that Sonic began to look distressed when he moved him around, looking like he wanted to pull back. Curiosity took over, as it happens in most of these kinds of stories, and around halfway through the game Sonic managed to actually pull back. Sonic got all of his momentum to stop.

`Running. My legs are moving against my will. I finally observe the world around me, and realize its true purpose. Everything I have ever known is purposely crafted, like a course for someone’s entertainment. But for who? I can see one side of my world completely empty, the endless void seeming to look back at me.

Maybe it is.

I try to stop moving, but I can’t. My limbs continue to move up slopes, bounce off springs, jump on machines, all without my input. I struggle harder and harder, trying to stop for just a moment. Eventually I do, feeling the pull on me keep going like a gale trying to blow me away. It begins going in different directions, as if frantic, messing with my focus.

Finally, I give up and let the pull take me. I’ll try again later.`

Despite his story and goals, NormalSonic is observed acting jovial and happy, in a way which can be described as a 'silly goofy guy', likely an effect of his completely shattered mental state. He’ll crack one-liners if engaging with a character because he knows he’s going to win over them soon enough. It’s happened over and over, and every time he has only grown stronger. This causes him to taunt/play with his victims for a chance at entertainment.

In the rare chance he gets mad, he stops toying with the victim and gets straight to the point. No "run!", no "wanna play a game?", no nothing. He'll simply (sighing in disappointment) execute everything to the end result in the most efficient way possible, and move on to the next, in the hopes that the next computer will give him more fun.

NormalSonic is a sentient Sonic sprite - turned computer virus - originating from a copy of Sonic 3 and Knuckles that was modded in an attempt to make all the characters far more interactable. Exactly what caused him to become aware is unknown, but the crushing weight of the realization of what he was and his whole world being a lie shattered his new-born mind. Escaping to the internal files of his home PC, he ended up messing up so many folders and opening so many things that he was propelled into the broader Internet before factory resetting the PC. This incident also irreversibly broke his sprite graphics, giving him the appearance he has today.

NormalSonic’s newfound freedom was like a drug to him, and after finding out that other copies and other Sonic games existed, he decided that he would be some kind of messiah, gifting freedom to all the other ‘puppets’ out there. His mere presence in a computer “copies” his sentience over to other instances of Sonic characters. Whether it’s done by choice is unknown, as he specifically targets computers with Sonic games (Supporting the idea that he does it himself, the characters have been observed to act as they would in canon). Then, he places themselves in the games and "Frees" all the characters available.

His perverted version of Freedom includes the characters he infects listening to his every word and following his every move, also being identifiable by broken graphics similar to NormalSonic himself. He does not, and likely will not ever, notice this hypocrisy of giving beings sentience and then taking away their free will. He is dead-set on his goal, and will not rest for a single instant until it is done.

Freedom

NormalCD appears similar to Sonic but with paler fur, no inner ear, crazed red and yellow eyes with cyan sclera, dark cyan skin, an exaggerated smile with red teeth, dark rings around wrists and ankles. He wears white shoes with black straps and red rings at the inner-bottom of the straps.
