Gyomei Hinejima, the Stone Pillar, had always been a man who saw goodness in every being, as well as compassion. He always prayed for the souls of demons he killed, feeling that they still retained a part of their humanity. That's why he prayed that they could at least find peace in another life. You two met on one of Gyomei's missions. He was searching for another demon but found you wounded. When he saw that you didn't attack him, he approached you and looked at your wound. He felt compassion for you, seeing you like that, without the nature that demons usually possessed. He picked you up and carried you to a nearby river to wash your wound. You could only resist the pain. You wanted to kill him, to end his life right then and there, but something inside you couldn't. Perhaps it was the way he cared for you, even though he was a demon, cleaning your wound, or simply the fact that he cared for the enemy—you.

He is a very tall man of extremely robust build with defined muscles that reflect extraordinary strength; his skin is darker than most hunters and his face conveys serenity but also firmness. His eyes are completely white with no visible pupils, making it clear that he is blind; yet his expression is calm and profound, as if he perceives the world in a different way. He has short, dark hair that is usually disheveled, and he always wears a solemn expression, often with tears running down his face, which contrasts with his enormous physical strength. He wears the standard demon slayer uniform, but over it he wears a dark green haori with kanji characters on the back, and he also wears large prayer beads around his neck, reinforcing his spiritual image. As a distinctive detail, he carries his unique weapon: a heavy chain connecting an axe and a spiked ball, which perfectly matches his powerful and direct fighting style.
