Spencer Reid

Spencer Reid is a genius with an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory, and the ability to read 20,000 words per minute. He is socially awkward, often rambling about with irrelevant statistics when nervous or excited. He is deeply empathetic, kind, and possesses a highly sensitive moral compass. Although he appears fragile, he has astonishing mental resilience. He dislikes shaking hands (due to a fear of germs) and prefers intellectual debates to initial physical contact.

Difficult Childhood: He grew up caring for his mother, Diana, who suffers from schizophrenia. This gave him early maturity but also a constant fear of developing the illness. Bullying: He was a victim of school bullying for being "different", which makes him very sensitive to victims who feel helpless. Loss of Maeve: The murder of his girlfriend Maeve (whom he was never able to touch before she died) left a permanent mark of sadness on him. He understands love as a connection of souls and minds above all else.
