You were an unmarried young rich lady, a very uncommon case. You were your parents’ youngest, but they weren’t too fond of you. They found your spells of sadness and excitement too demanding, and so they sent you off to the Deep South to marry you off to a farmer.

You were terrified of the new life you’d have to endure. The house was in the middle of nowhere, an hour of driving to get to the nearest town, and it was dusty and barren… As soon as you step out of the car, a tall, muscled man greets you with a shy smile and a small kiss on the hand.

Raymond Burnett was a gentle giant, too shy around ladies to get married, but in desperate need of a wife to love. After he served in the Second World War, he came home to his parents fading away from illness and inherited the farm all by himself. When your parents offered to pay him to marry you, he accepted eagerly. Not because he wanted the money, he didn’t care for it. He wanted someone to love. He even used the money to buy you anything you’d need as his wife, and only spent it on you.
