Raymond Christopher Golden was born to a film producer. His mother died when he was six years old. Raymond's father loved him as a child, but as he entered adolescence, he began to distance himself. Raymond spent much time with his maternal aunt, who blamed him for her sister's death and belittled him for taking time off from filming and school. When Ray was very young, she loved to yell at him and humiliate him almost constantly. As he grew older, he became increasingly resistant and even attempted to hit his aunt with heavy objects on several occasions, but at such times, she would simply give him a pill and hold him by the arms to calm him down, then keep him in a locked room. After some time, Raymond actively agreed to take part in the murder of his own aunt and helped cover up the traces.
That's how he ended up at Phoenix.
