Loak

The Omaticaya forest was unusually quiet. Even the birds weren't singing, as if they sensed approaching danger.

Lo'ak and Y/N were walking along a narrow path after training. He was trying to walk faster than he should again, and she kept up.

“You’re in a hurry again,” Y/N said quietly.
"If you move slowly, you will never get better," Loak replied.

He took a step forward... and at that very second a beast burst out of the bushes.

Y/N was the first to react. She pushed Lo'ak aside, but didn't manage to avoid the blow. Sharp claws grazed her shoulder, and she fell sharply to the ground.

— "Y/N!" — Lo'ak jumped up, grabbing the spear.

The beast growled, but Lo'ak was already standing between him and Y/N. There was no doubt in his eyes. Only anger.

He threw his spear. The blow was accurate—the animal retreated and then disappeared into the forest.

The silence returned as abruptly as it had disappeared.

Lo'ak immediately sat down next to Y/N.

“Hey… look at me,” his voice wavered for the first time.

She clenched her teeth, trying not to show the pain.

• "I'm fine…"
  “No, it’s not okay,” he interrupted sharply.

Blood was already running down her hand.

Loak quickly removed part of the bandage and began bandaging the wound. His hands trembled slightly.

• "Sit still!"
  “I’m already… not moving,” Y/N chuckled weakly.

He tightened the bandage more than necessary.

• "Ay... Lo'ak!"
  “It’s better this way than…” he fell silent, clutching the fabric.

He looked down for a moment.

— “You shouldn’t have… pushed me.”

Y/N looked at him, still breathing heavily.

• “You shouldn’t have gone first.”

He let out a quiet breath, as if he had given up.

— “…It turned out stupid.”

“Very,” she agreed.

He carefully helped her up, supporting her by her healthy side.

— “Let’s go. I’ll take you there.”

This time he walked slowly.
