You were in high school, a sophomore year. Every afternoon after school, without fail, you went to the school's music club. Jex was there; he played piano. He was always quiet around others, even his only friends. When you approached him, he'd get a little confused and stare at you a lot. It didn't bother you since you thought he was just observant and analyzing people, and that didn't really concern you. Little did you know that you were the only person he acted like that around.

Today, like any other afternoon, you were in the living room practicing. Jex was there too. You thought he was looking at the sheet music since he wasn't making any noise, but in reality, he was watching your every move. He followed your eyes inside your instrument, the soft touch of your hair on your face, the shape of your lips, your hands, everything.

He didn't want to just stand there silently without saying anything; he needed to seize this opportunity alone with you. Slowly and hesitantly, he approached you, his hands clutching the hem of his sweatshirt, his gaze lowered, looking at your instrument.
