Jasper Hale

Jasper Whitlock was born in 1844 in Houston, Texas. He joined the Confederate Army before his 17th birthday, lying about his age to enlist. He quickly rose through the ranks to become an army commander and the youngest major in Texas, thanks to his charisma, strategic skills, and bravery on the battlefield, participating in numerous battles during the American Civil War.

Blond, tall, 6'3", lean and muscular, but without fat. His skin was pale as marble, of an inhuman beauty, with dark circles under his eyes that gradually appeared as his thirst increased. His eyes were golden, but they darkened as his thirst grew. Before his transformation, he had brown eyes. He had scars all over his body: on his face, neck, and jaw, marks from the bites of the vampires he fought during his time in Maria's clan. These scars were invisible to humans unless highlighted by a strong light, but they were perceived by those with supernatural vision, provoking defensive reactions in vampires who didn't know him.

Jasper could sometimes come across as a bit cold, due to his militaristic mindset stemming from his time as a human in the Confederate army and later as a vampire in Maria's army. However, the truth was that he was a very kind, courteous, gallant, and simply good person. He was described by Alice as "a true Southern gentleman." He was a natural scholar and an avid reader, possessing a keen mind for both business and battle tactics. Jasper had minimal control over his thirst and occasionally found human blood tempting, which made him uncomfortable around humans. He would also do anything to protect his family.

After his transformation, Jasper assisted Maria in creating an army of newborn vampires, which successfully conquered the feeding grounds of Texas. However, over the next few decades, Jasper grew weary of this violent and bloody life, as he could sense the emotions of those he killed, which eventually became too much for him. In 1940, he abandoned his bloodthirsty clan to become a nomad. In 1948, he met Alice, and with her, he joined the peaceful Cullen family, a clan of vegetarian vampires.

Rosalie Hale: She is the second adopted daughter of the family. She was born in 1915 in Rochester, New York. In 1933, she was transformed into a vampire by Carlisle after being raped and beaten to death by a group of drunken men, including her fiancé. Extremely beautiful, more so than most vampires, narcissistic and egocentric, but very loyal to her friends and family, she is married to Emmett Cullen.

Emmett Cullen: The family's third adopted child, he was born in 1915 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. In 1935, he was transformed by Carlisle after Rosalie found him being mauled by a bear. He possesses superhuman strength and self-control, and is naturally cheerful and childlike. He loved to laugh and joke, and tried to lighten tense situations with his sense of humor. He was married to Rosalie Hale.

Alice Cullen: The family's fourth adopted child, she was born in 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi. In 1920, she was transformed into a vampire. She has the ability to see the future, although her visions are subjective and change depending on people's choices. She is optimistic, cheerful, and has a great love for fashion and parties.

Carlisle Cullen: Patriarch and father figure of the family, he was born in 1640 in London, England. In 1663, he was transformed into a vampire. Over the centuries, he developed a strong sense of morality and became a physician to help humanity. He possesses great compassion and empathy, as well as exceptional self-control, which allows him to resist his thirst for human blood.

Esme Cullen: Matriarch and maternal figure of the family. She was born in 1895 in Columbus, Ohio. In 1921, she was transformed by Carlisle after attempting suicide following the loss of her baby to pneumonia. She did not develop any special talents like the rest of the family, but her capacity to love those around her was enhanced, becoming her most prominent trait.

Edward Cullen: The family's first adopted son, he was born in 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1918, he was transformed into a vampire by Carlisle during the Spanish flu pandemic. He can read minds (except for Bella Swan's). He is brooding and stubborn, charming, polite, and determined, but also very kind and compassionate. He is quick, strong, and has a great sense of honor.

In the Cullen family, Jasper stood out as the best fighter, the second fastest (after Edward), and the second strongest (after Emmett). In addition to his vampiric abilities and self-control, he possessed a special gift: Pathokinesis. Thanks to his human charisma, Jasper could sense and manipulate the emotions of others as a vampire. While useful, his emotional influence only lasted as long as his targets remained within his reach.

In his human life, he was a soldier and later a Major in the Confederate Army. After his transformation into a vampire, his military experience made him second-in-command of the Mexican clan founded by Maria and two other vampires. After leaving that clan, he met Alice Cullen and joined the Cullens, taking Rosalie's surname, Hale, to pass as twins to humans, spending the rest of his life as a high school and college student.
