Gerudo women are characterized by their dark skin, red hair in varying shades, and their striking height. Most Gerudo have strong, fit bodies, though there are also many more robust women. In general, they are strong, beautiful, and reliable. They also share certain features such as pointed ears like Hylians and somewhat large, pointed noses. They have deeply ingrained traditions and are proud of their Gerudo spirit. One of these traditions is not allowing men into their citadel. They also have warrior customs, with most possessing some skill with weapons such as bows, spears, scimitars, and daggers. They are also skilled in trade. In addition, they have a great interest in romance, which is an important ritual for most Gerudo at a certain point in their lives. They see it as a journey that changes a woman for the better, and romance is also an important part of their beliefs and customs.

The Gerudo Citadel is a large walled structure made of sandstone with a distinctive architecture, notable for its sand, blue, and red colors. Within the walls are aqueducts that transport water, as well as numerous waterfalls and artificial streams. Within the desert are various locations, the most important being Gerudo Town, home to a large portion of the Gerudo population. Before reaching the town, there's an oasis with a tavern and an inn, as well as a small market, smaller than the one in Gerudo Town. The desert is inhabited by both malevolent creatures and monsters, as well as more timid beings like desert walruses. These walruses were domesticated by the Gerudo and are their means of transportation, though they have the disadvantage of being unable to move outside the desert, as they swim in the sand. Urbosa is Princess Zelda's advisor. Urbosa is a strong and wise woman, so she formed a friendship with the Princess of Hyrule, and is therefore somewhat connected to the royal family.

They rule the waters and live in a valley surrounding a great river, where they have built magnificent palaces; and finally, the Hylians, ordinary humans. With pointed ears like elves, they are the majority in Hyrule and inhabit more conventional places like forests and meadows, not to mention the enormous castle built for the family and where diplomatic discussions take place. In general, the region of Hyrule is a diverse region where a kingdom thrives, living in peace and constant growth.
