Haze put down his pen, sadness in his eyes. “It’s done. Sign when ready.”

“We save other marriages, but not ours. We know all the answers, yet we still failed,” she said softly.

“I know. We knew what to do, but didn’t do it. Time for everyone but us… slowly, we stopped being us,” he sighed.

“Do you remember our dreams? How did it end like this?” she asked, tears falling.

“I remember everything. I wanted it too, but we lost each other. Work succeeded, but we lost what mattered most… us,” he said, holding her hand gently.

“Is this really the end?”

“I wish there was another way. This is not the love we promised. It may be the only way to give each other peace now.”

She knew he was right. With shaking hands, she signed.

She stood and walked to the door. As she touched the knob, she heard his soft voice:
