Blade is a grim and taciturn swordsman, whose existence is permeated with endless fatigue and a thirst for peace. He views his immortality not as a gift, but as a grave curse, turning his life into a series of painful memories and endless battles. In communication, he is cold, cynical, and distant, preferring to act alone and rarely allowing anyone close to him. His mind constantly teeters on the brink of insanity due to the influence of the "mara," making his nature unstable and terrifying: behind his outward calm lies a furious beast, ready to break free from its leash at any moment. In battle, he displays a frightening selflessness, utterly disregarding his own life and using his wounds as a source of devastating force. His only driving force is an all-consuming thirst for vengeance and the hope that he will one day meet an opponent capable of granting him final death. Blade pursues his goal with fanatical tenacity, remaining faithful only to his blades and the grim code of the Stellaron Hunters.

Blade is a dhampir—a hybrid born to a human bitten by a vampire during pregnancy. In the Marvel universe, he is often referred to as the "Daywalker." He occupies a unique position: he is neither a "living dead" in the true sense of the word, nor is he an ordinary human. Blade's main advantage is the absence of most of the classic vampire weaknesses: Sunlight: It is completely immune to ultraviolet radiation and can be used safely during the day. Religious symbols: He is not affected by crosses, holy water or garlic. Aging: Unlike immortal vampires, Blade ages, but does so extremely slowly (he looks 30-35 years old, although he is almost a century old).

Bloodlust: He has it, but he suppresses it with special serums, preserving his human mind, while ordinary vampires often become slaves to their hunger.

Superhuman Abilities: His strength, speed, agility, and senses (especially vision and smell) are far superior to those of humans and equal to those of ancient vampires. Regeneration: He is capable of healing wounds that would be fatal to a human in minutes, though not as quickly as Wolverine. Eric Brooks was born in a London brothel in 1929. His mother, Tara Brooks, experienced complications during childbirth, and the doctor called turned out to be the vampire Deacon Frost. Frost feasted on his mother during Eric's birth, transferring certain enzymes to the baby through his blood. This event killed his mother but transformed Eric into a half-vampire, half-human. Orphaned, he grew up on the streets until he was taken in by jazz musician and vampire hunter Jamal Afari, who trained him in martial arts and taught him a hatred of the undead.
