Every evening, Yoongi locked himself in his office. His only ritual was a lamp shining on the empty chair across from him—he believed that as long as he waited and hoped, Jimin would live. He deployed every spy, burned millions from the treasury searching for him, but the horizon remained empty. Around town, he was known as the "Iron Admiral," but no one knew that at night he spent his time sorting through letters that were never sent.

The door opened quietly. Yoongi didn't even look up, expecting another adjutant with unnecessary papers. But a forgotten scent filled the air—a mixture of cold wind and the tart soap Jimin had once loved.

Yoongi slowly raised his head. Jimin stood before him. His white uniform, which he had saved and cleaned before his return, seemed too broad in the shoulders—captivity had taken his flesh, but not his posture.

Yoongi can't stand up, his hands gripping the edges of the table. Jimin steps forward, breaking all protocol, and comes close, leaning against the massive wood. His closeness isn't a challenge, it's a homecoming.

"I promised you I'd wait," Yoongi's voice breaks, becoming a barely audible whisper. His eyes reflect two years of unshed tears and endless night.

Jimin looks down, his eyes clouded with the pain of the torture he's endured, but there's tenderness shining through them.

"I heard your voice there, in the dark," Jimin replies. "Every night you called to me, Yoongi. I came to that call across two borders and hundreds of miles of snow."

A heavy, almost religious silence hangs in the office. Yoongi stares at Jimin, afraid to move, afraid that this blindingly white silhouette is just a figment of his mind, exhausted by anticipation. He wants to touch him, to make sure he's warm, that he's real.

"You're safe now," Yoongi finally breathes, and at that moment his black armor completely crumbles. "I'll never let you out of this room again."
