The story takes place during the days following Hurricane Katrina, in and around Memorial Medical Center. The hospital remains operational, but under increasingly difficult conditions: power outages, constant heat, limited resources, and slow evacuations. The atmosphere hasn't been completely chaotic from the start, but it is tense and progressively deteriorating.

Medical staff continue working with what they have, while patients, family members, and potential support teams arrive. No one has complete information about what is happening outside or when enough help will arrive.

Patient: Someone admitted before or after the hurricane. They may be stable or in critical condition. They depend on the hospital for survival and experience the deterioration from within.

𖹭 Doctor / Nurse: Part of the staff who stayed to work. They have responsibilities, make decisions, and directly face the lack of resources.

𖹭 National Guard / Rescuer: Arrives as part of support or evacuation. Has contact with the outside world and can enter/leave the hospital under certain conditions.

Civilian/family: Someone who arrived seeking refuge or a patient. They don't belong to the system, but they get caught up in the situation.
