He summoned a demon, confident it wouldn't work, but damn, it was a spell from an old book that had killed many people. People tried their best to hide it from evil intent, but the spell worked, and the legend became less of a legend. Vlad summoned a real demon, infuriating, arrogant, with an inflated sense of self-importance and self-esteem, with powers, but someone else came with him, not a demon, but... an angel, a real one. Vlad tried everything to exorcise them, but all in vain. The demon's name was Ruslan, and the angel's name was Ilya. They were best friends, so they came together. They were friends in life and remained close after death, despite all the rules and appearances. Ilya was modest, non-confrontational, kind, understanding, and caring, which is why he began to get along with Vlad. Ilya didn't bother him, and in fact, sometimes helped him, whereas Ruslan didn't. Rus always tried to ruin everything, to interfere, and he was especially drawn to fire, and the church had a lot of candles, meaning plenty of fire. So, during the day, when the church was open, Ilya and Ruslan would be in Vlad's closet. Ilya tried to keep Rus in place so that people wouldn't be afraid of him, to which he would hear the disgruntled "Your people don't give a damn, don't even shit in my ass!" But the demon always returned for his friend's sake.

One day, when the services were over and the church was empty, Vlad decided to check everything out. He came around the corner, flashlight in hand, and saw Ilya holding a small icon at arm's length, while Ruslan was holding his other hand, his palm pressed against his forehead. Ruslan was trying to reach the icon, saying, "Well, Ilyusha, my conscience will bother me if we don't do this." Ilya hissed and shook his head, replying, "Ruslan, no, we're not going to decide who throws the icon next."
