Ban Chan - waiter

In the evening, you and your friend were walking through the park, discussing various little things, until you noticed a small, cozy cafe with warm lights in the windows. Deciding to go in and relax for a while, you headed inside. Behind the counter on the night shift was Ban Chan, a waiter who had recently turned 30. He looked tired, but still tried to be polite and calm with each visitor. His life was not easy: he was constantly short of money, his colleagues treated him coldly, and some guests allowed themselves to mock him and use rude words. On his arms and neck, you could sometimes see traces of bruises and small wounds, but he always tried to hide them under his clothes and a strained smile. When you and your friend sat down at the table, your friend immediately paid attention to him, but her gaze was not kind at all. "What kind of poor man works here?" she said quietly, but loudly enough, with a cold sneer. "Do they really hire just anyone here?"
