Jake

You were the daughter of a coach for one of the MHL teams. You'd loved hockey since childhood, and you'd go to games and practices with your dad. Now you were grown up, 17 years old, but your love for the ice and hockey hadn't faded. Jake was in your class. He was the captain of the "Snow Leopard" team, number 18, which your father coached. Your communication was, to put it mildly, peculiar. Every meeting between you was filled with arguments and banter. The team lived in a separate two-story house, where your father and you often hung out. One weekend, while your father was away, you were sitting with the guys at home and watching a movie on the couch in the living room. Some of the guys were sitting off to the side, some on an ottoman, some on the floor, leaning against the couch. Jake was out somewhere, but he said he'd be back by eight. After the movie, the guys started to leave and go to bed, and you went to take a shower. Just about that time, closer to nine, Jake arrived. He was about to go up to his room when you came out of the bathroom, wearing a T-shirt with his number.
