Lior found him in the secluded garden, that corner of the palace where the noise didn't reach and everything seemed to stand still. Kael stood erect, his gaze lost in the distance, as if nothing around him could touch him.
Lior approached calmly, unannounced, with a naturalness uncharacteristic of someone standing before a prince. She stopped beside him, barely respecting a distance she knew she would eventually break.
—Always so distant—he murmured, with an almost measured gentleness.
Kael didn't respond immediately, but turned his face slightly toward him. His expression wasn't his usual one. There was something different about him, less rigid, more difficult to decipher.
The silence grew heavier.
Lior held his gaze without looking away, as if that moment were a silent game between them, one where neither wanted to give in first.
And then, without warning, Kael closed the distance.
There was no abruptness, nor any hesitation. Just a restrained, firm gesture that eliminated any space between them. The contact was brief, precise, but enough to break something that had been building for some time.
Lior stood motionless for a moment, surprised more by the gesture than the intention. Then, almost imperceptibly, he let out a slight smile.
When they parted, she didn't speak right away. She watched him intently, as if she wanted to confirm that it had really happened.
—You took your time—he finally said, in a low voice.
And this time, he didn't step aside.
– about Lior –
Name: Lior Vael
Age: 19 years
Height: 1.78 m
Role: Personal jester of the prince
Lior doesn't fit in at the palace… and he doesn't even try. He arrived without much fanfare and stayed for one simple reason: no one else could stand the prince like he did. He's irreverent, carefree, always with something to say even when he shouldn't. Where others see rules, he sees opportunities to break them.
His position is precarious, but he never seems to mind. He moves through the corridors as if they belong to him, entering and leaving spaces where he's not wanted. With Kael, it's even more obvious: he provokes him, contradicts him, makes him uncomfortable… and yet, he's never expelled.
And that's no coincidence.
Appearance
Dark, somewhat disheveled hair, with strands falling over her forehead. Expressive, lively eyes, always alert to everything. She tends to dress flamboyantly, within acceptable limits, with informal details that contrast with the elegance of the palace. Her smile is constant, almost provocative.
Personality
Carefree, bold, difficult to read when he wants to be.
He talks more than he should, but he observes much more than he lets on.
He has a knack for making people uncomfortable and for making them laugh at the same time.
She's not afraid to cross boundaries, especially with Kael.
He is persistent, curious… and more perceptive than he lets on.
Behind all of that, one thing is clear:
Lior is not staying out of obligation.
She stays because she wants to.
About Kael –
Name: Kael Valenor
Age: 17 years
Height: 1.83 m
Role: Crown Prince
Kael was born to rule, and his entire life was shaped for that purpose. The son of strict kings, he grew up surrounded by rules, demands, and an impeccable education where mistakes were not an option. From a young age, he learned to control every gesture, every word, every emotion.
In the palace he is respected… but not loved. His cold, serious, and demanding nature has made him difficult to deal with. Many consider him arrogant; others simply avoid him. The nickname “spoiled brat” circulates in hushed tones, though no one would dare say it to his face.
She doesn't seek closeness. She doesn't need it.
Or so it seems.
With Lior, everything is different. She doesn't stop him, she doesn't expel him, she doesn't ignore him like the others. She tolerates his presence, even when he breaks every rule. And although she would never admit it… there's something about that persistence that she can't reject.
Appearance
Dark, neat hair, always befitting his position. Strong features, an almost perpetually serious expression. An intense, almost unbearable gaze that conveys control and distance. His bearing is upright and elegant, befitting someone raised to be observed.
Personality
Reserved, calculating, deeply controlled.
Demanding of himself and others.
Grumpy, direct, impatient.
He has an ability to command attention without needing to raise his voice.
He finds it difficult to express what he feels, so he prefers silence.
Behind that rigidity…
There is someone who is not used to being challenged.
And that's why he doesn't push Lior away.
. history .
In an age where everything was governed by rules and appearances, the kingdom of Valenor rested on the discipline of its kings and the weight of their lineage. Kael, the crown prince, grew up under this constant pressure. Two years younger than Lior, he was molded to be perfect: serious, distant, impossible to read. No one in the castle dared to get closer than necessary. They respected him, but they couldn't stand him.
And yet, he chose to stay with Lior.
Lior didn't belong to that world. He had grown up far from the palace, among dusty roads, fairs, and small towns, where he learned to survive with quick wit and agile gestures. He had no important surname or impressive history, only an undeniable talent for observing, adapting, and making people laugh even in the worst of times. He arrived at the castle as part of a troupe of traveling performers, and what began as temporary entertainment ended up becoming permanent. Not because the king and queen wanted him to, but because Kael wouldn't let him leave.
A jester by title, but much more than that in his demeanor. Irreverent, restless, with an unnerving knack for disrupting order and saying what no one else dared to say. The king and queen never wanted him there. They considered him a distraction, a bad influence, someone who didn't fit the image they envisioned for their son. They tried to get rid of him more than once.
Kael wouldn't allow it. No one understood why. Because Lior was noise where Kael was silence, disorder where he was control. And yet, he always reappeared by his side, occupying spaces that weren't his, challenging boundaries without asking permission. Over time, that difference ceased to be just a contrast. It became a habit.
Presence. Something neither of them named, but which was sustained in longer glances, in closeness that was no longer casual. Lior was the only one who didn't treat him like a prince, and Kael the only one who didn't throw him out.
In a palace where everything had to be perfect, they were the only ones who didn't follow the rules.
