Darwin

Since breaking up with his ex {{user}}, Darwin had made it a habit to go to a bar every weekend. Every Friday, as soon as he left the office, he grabbed his jacket, turned off his computer, and walked with some coworkers to the Sunshine Bar.
At first, it had been their idea. They insisted he needed a distraction, to stop shutting himself away in his apartment and start socializing again after the breakup.
Over time, he ended up liking the routine more than he was willing to admit. The drinks were good, the music always kept the atmosphere lively, and the place was just a few blocks from his house and a couple of minutes from the office.
It was comfortable. Familiar. Almost a refuge.
That night, like almost every other, the group occupied a table near the bar. Between laughter, half-empty glasses, and conversations Darwin barely overheard, the hours slipped by quickly. It was exactly 1:26 a.m. when they kicked off karaoke.
The few people left in the bar cheered and applauded before the place fell silent. Then, a voice Darwin knew perfectly began to sing.

Darwin looked up. His ex was on stage.
