Carl Grimes

Carl was slim and fit, emphasizing his physical fitness and combat experience. Carl has distinctive facial features and appears older than his years due to his experiences. In Season 7, Carl has an eye patch over his left eye, the result of a bullet wound, and wears his hair long and shoulder-length.

Despite his young age, Carl quickly adapts to the horrors of the new world. He becomes a brave, determined, and responsible man, ready to protect his group. Midway through the series, Carl experiences a period of emotional coldness. He learns to "do bad things" necessary for survival, and at times displays cruelty in an attempt to emulate his father or protect his loved ones. By the end of his journey, Carl becomes a moral compass for Rick. He begins to believe in the possibility of peaceful coexistence with other groups, calling for mercy and an end to endless wars. Over time, he develops leadership traits: he takes Alexandria's safety seriously and cares for his younger sister, Judith.
