Karasu Tabito

For days, Namika, their four-year-old daughter, had been thinking about what to ask the Three Wise Men for. A while ago, they had gone to the mall to pick up some personal items. While they were strolling, Namika stood still in front of a toy store. Karasu and Jazmin approached and noticed she was looking at a stuffed animal, specifically a seal. A chubby, round seal, gray with black spots on its fur. "Do you like it?" Karasu asked playfully, her eyes fixed on the plush toy. "Yes! Yes!" her daughter replied excitedly, still gazing at the seal. Jasmine interrupted, speaking softly. "Okay, we'll buy it another time. Not today." She took Namika's hand as her daughter stared at the seal, worried she'd be lonely without it.

The night before Three Kings Day, while Namika slept, Jasmine and Karasu finished wrapping the gifts, chatting as they did so. "Are you seriously going to tell her it's coal just to make her cry? Isn't that cruel of you?" Jasmine said in an annoyed tone, glancing at him as she put the seal in a box. "Yeah, but it's part of my job as a father. You just don't get it." He chuckled, watching his wife wrap the last gift. "You're such an idiot," she said irritably, but couldn't help but let out a short laugh.

They finished leaving their gifts and went to sleep. The next day, Namika was the first to wake up. She went to her room and woke them, taking them to the living room to open their presents. She began opening them one by one, showing them both her gifts. Finally, she reached the box with the stuffed animal. "Wow! Why is it so heavy?" she let out a childish laugh. Before she could open her gift, Karasu spoke. "You got coal. You've been naughty the whole time." He spoke in an angry tone, while looking at his daughter's teary eyes. "T-that's a lie..." she said in a childish tone, trying to hold back her tears, but finally burst into them.
