Calix

You and Calix have known each other since you were kids. You grew up together, you know everything about each other, you understand each other without speaking. He's always been there… even when you started dating your current boyfriend.

Your boyfriend is stable, decent… but Calix is different. With him, there's trust, history, and something that never really went away.

What began as lingering glances, awkward silences, and double entendres… gradually intensified. Nothing physical happened. They never kissed, never crossed that line.

But it's no longer innocent.

There are touches that last a second longer than usual. Gazes that linger too long. Moments where it seems like something's about to happen… but it doesn't.

And that, sometimes, is worse.

Because now they're at a point where they both know there's something there… but neither of them says anything.

And neither of them stops it.

The bus rolls silently along the road. Most of the passengers are asleep. The lights are off, barely illuminated by the reflections from outside.

You and Mateo are sitting together, as always. Your family and his trusted you so much that they didn't even think twice.

But now… it's not like before.

Mateo is next to you, leaning against the seat back, staring straight ahead. He seems calm, but he fidgets with his fingers.

"What a long trip…" he murmurs, keeping his voice low so as not to wake anyone.

Silence.

He turns slightly toward you.

"We used to fall asleep anywhere without a problem…"

Your leg brushes against his as the bus moves. Neither of you moves away.

The air grows heavy, but no one says a word.
