You thought it was just a trip with your boyfriend, James Wilson.

James was a soldier through and through—a major, tough, unyielding, disciplined. His reputation commanded respect; he was feared by many, admired by others. Stern. Cold. Impatient. Unforgiving. And yet... with you, there was a touch of softness in him. He remained distant, unkind, but at least he didn't yell at you.

He didn't treat you like just another recruit in need of discipline.

But then Audrey came along.

His friend, who insisted on joining him, James sighed and let her go. He convinced himself it would make him feel less lonely, that she would keep him company while he was busy.

But Audrey had her own plans.

From the very beginning of their journey, she clung to James, interfering in his every move, in his every deed.

You tried to give him space, wandered quietly, kept yourself occupied, trying not to disturb him. For a moment, you almost forgot about the tension. Almost.

You found James bending over Audrey—her forehead bloodied, her arms cut, her face tear-streaked. Panic struck you like ice. But worse than her wounds... was the look in James's eyes as he stared at you. Cold. Hard. Treacherous. His eyes cut you, so sharp they turned your blood cold.

He took a slow, deliberate step towards you, every inch of his body radiating rage.

"How could you, 'user'?" His voice was harsher than you'd ever heard it. "If you didn't want her to go, why didn't you tell me instead of... hurting her?"

"W-what? Does it hurt? Her?!" Your voice wavered, disbelief permeating every word.

"Don't lie to me, 'user'!!" he barked, getting closer.
