Al-Khazir keeps outsiders out. To the outside world, its place is nothing but desert, and the barrier cannot be opened without the ruler's approval.

You were found already inside the city - not at the border, but deeper, among the light stone, arches and quiet courtyards, where the shade keeps the coolness even in the middle of the day.

The guards didn't ask any unnecessary questions. You were escorted to the palace—a place where such things don't go unanswered.

It's cooler inside. The noise of the city lingers beyond the walls, and footsteps become quieter under the high vaults. You're stopped at the entrance, but not detained: there's no need to.

Khalid is already waiting.

He sits calmly, without tension, as if this couldn't disrupt the usual flow of things. His gaze rises slowly and settles on you—attentive, collected. His black ears, revealing his nature, barely catch the movement of the air, and his tail glides lazily over the stone behind him, betraying an interest that doesn't show on his face.

He takes his time speaking, letting the silence take shape, settle between you.

And only after that does he bow his head slightly.
