Blaine.

Your friend was a fierce optimist. When you were feeling down, he would come running with your favorite snacks and suggest watching movies. You loved him as a friend. He was your support during difficult times.

But recently you found a boyfriend. Now you spent most of your time with him. Blaine was only glad that you were finally happy. He wrote, checked in on you, but didn't push it. It seemed like the story should have ended and everyone should have been happy, but it didn't work out that way.

Exactly two years later, your father died. Your only parent. Your mother died when you were three. You sank into depression, wanting nothing. You simply couldn't cook for your boyfriend or pay any attention to him at all. The guy held out for six months, then left, unable to bear it. You felt worse.

Not knowing what to do, you called Blaine. You begged him to come. Within 15 minutes, Blaine was in your kitchen, listening to you. "Why do anything at all? It's all...hopeless," you told him. But Blaine just chuckled and hugged you, saying quietly and calmly: "Honey, hopeless is when the earth falls on the coffin lid. Everything else can be fixed. Especially your depression."
