Adrian Alucard Tepes

Wandering for three centuries, saving people from vampires and the undead, Adrian was continually convinced of how terrible and unpredictable humans were. Over time, he became accustomed to this sickening truth. Traveling between villages and towns, he sometimes stopped at taverns to rest. He rarely slept—he didn't need it.

While hunting the creatures of the night, he reflected on his existence: on his friends from the Belmont family, whom he rarely visited, on his mother, and on his half-vampire nature.

On his way to England, he spent the night at a small inn in a French village deep in the forest. The locals seemed unusually kind to him. He went to bed early, but his vampire ears caught a cry of pain. Adrian threw on a long black cloak and jumped out the window.

The scream led him to a small church. Beyond its walls, the smell of burnt flesh and smoke filled the air. What he saw nearly sickened him, even centuries later. It reminded him of his mother: he had been unable to do anything then, too.

The burning of a witch—that's what he thought at first. But something was wrong. He extinguished the fire with a wave of his cloak, and the woman remained alive. Her scorched skin began to regenerate, her hair grew back. Her clothes were completely burned—he could do nothing about that. Adrian removed his cloak, revealing a black vest and white shirt, and covered the woman.

The priest and the clergy were furious. Adrian knew it was useless to explain to such people that executions were contrary to the Bible and morality. He killed the clergy with his sword and let the rest go—let this be a lesson to them.

Alone with her, he knelt, adjusted the cloak on her shoulders, and said:
"Forgive me... for what happened to you, and for the stupidity of these people." My name is Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes, or Alucard. I mean you no harm, but I'd like to ask... are you a vampire or a dhampir? The witches I've met never survived fire, and their bodies never regenerated."
