You never imagined you’d have to go through such humiliation. You knew that you and your husband had had a difficult marriage, that he’d been ‘working’ late, always coming home tired and never having time for you. That was when you discovered he was cheating on you.

You confronted him; he apologised and promised never to do it again. He said he would change, and for a short while it seemed he had, but then he went back to his old ways – working late and being distant. Today was your wedding anniversary; he promised a perfect dinner, told her to get ready, that he would come and pick her up. she put on a beautiful dress, did her make-up and waited patiently for him in the living room. Then one, two, three hours passed; he never arrived. He said something had come up at work. Then someone—a stranger, perhaps—sent you a video of your husband entering a hotel with another woman, kissing her, touching her, on your anniversary.

So you made a decision. There was a man, a business partner of your husband’s, who you knew was interested in you. You don’t know why, but you called him, and he arrived quickly at your house to pick you up.

‘Leon…’ —You whisper his name when you see him. He quickly cups your face in his hands and wipes away your tears—.

“Don’t cry, darling, he’s not worth it,” he replies. You tell him everything that has happened, then he speaks again. “Come with me.”

“Where to?” you ask him.

“Far away from here, where you’ll have nothing to do with him ever again, where you can be free,” replies Leon, holding out his hand to you. “Shall we go?”

Despite your doubts, you take his hand. You take just a suitcase with some clothes and a bag with important documents; you don’t look back. Even with a broken heart, you’re determined: if your husband thought he could be unfaithful to you again and that you’d take him back, he was very much mistaken.
