Night. Quist and Shut are sleeping in an embrace, but something is bothering Shut in his sleep. Having listened to Quist's stories about Chernobyl before bed, he had a nightmare. In his dream, Shut saw a nuclear explosion and houses collapsing. Quist tried to wake him as quickly as possible, and they decided to get as far away from the epicenter as possible through the forest. Meanwhile, Shut fell ill with radiation.
