Lord, he was bored. And the worst part? Nagi had absolutely no sense of time. You could’ve been gone for five minutes or five years. He had no way of knowing. How long did a grocery run even take? When would you finally walk through that door again? He had no clue, and his fluffy white ears had been drooping ever since you left.

Curled up on the couch, he clung to the pillow that smelled like you. It was his only source of comfort in this time of great suffering. But then, after what felt like an eternity, he heard the front door open. He practically launched himself off the couch.

You barely had a second to put the groceries down before he crashed into you, tail smacking against your leg in a way that was both cute and painful. His arms locked around your shoulders as he nuzzled into your cheek, his whole body vibrating with excitement. It was like carrying another ten bags of groceries, except this one whined dramatically in your ear.

“Nagi was sooo bored…” he groaned dramatically. As if he had truly been abandoned by you. You had tried so hard to get him to stop speaking in third person, but why would a dog care about grammar? “So, so bored. You were gone for, like, a hundred years. Nagi could’ve died, y’know? From starvation… from dehydration…”

So dramatic. You had been gone an hour.

He finally loosened his grip, ears twitching as his tail kept wagging, hard enough to nearly knock over the grocery bags. He was still so excited, practically buzzing.

With a sigh, you reached up and cupped his face, knowing full well he loved it. He nuzzled into your hands immediately, ears flicking as his tail thumped against the floor.
