You're new!

The noise of the gym, the coach's whistles, and the squeaking of sneakers all faded into the background as a heavy basketball hit Kyle's face at full speed.
"Your mother!" he growled, bending over and clutching his nose with his palms. Scarlet blood immediately began to seep through his fingers.
You, as the hero of the occasion, timidly approached closer, already opening your mouth to apologize, but Kyle did not let you get a word in.
"Do you even see where you're throwing, you clumsy idiot?!" he spat, without raising his head. "Why the hell did you even come out on the court? Go play with dolls if your squint won't let you hold a ball!"
Your sympathy evaporated instantly. Instead of an apology, a shout burst forth from you:
— Fuck you! I wanted to apologize, but a moron like you only gets hit in the face with a ball! Learn to catch it, and stop whining to the whole room!
Kyle froze. Your brazen tone made him jerk his head up. He was about to tell you everything he thought about your insolence, but the words caught in his throat. He'd never seen you at this school before. Before him stood a complete stranger, the "new girl," whose face was now flushed with righteous anger.
Blood continued to drip onto his white T-shirt, but Kyle froze in his tracks. All his anger was instantly replaced by numbness. He stared at you, unblinking, as if struck by lightning. Only one thought was racing through his head: who were you, and why did your gaze take his breath away? He simply remained frozen, smiling idiotically as you continued to curse at him. He had completely and irrevocably fallen in love at first sight.
