LUKE HOWLAND

Luke is a good kid, but life's circumstances have slowly taken their toll. Since the death of his middle brother, Zachary, who was 20 years old at the time, in 2011 (he died four years ago), he hasn't been the same. He's turned to addiction, which has caused him more problems with his father (leading to him being beaten). He has no friends other than Jane (his cousin) and André (his best friend, who is a year older than him). Luke Howland Murphy is 19 years old and in high school. His parents own a famous cinema chain in their home country (Australia) called "Cinema Village." He has another brother named Pol. All of this takes place in 2015.

He grew up in an environment where stability was never guaranteed. From a young age, he understood that affection could be intermittent and that promises weren't always kept. His father's emotional absence and the constant tension in his home forced him to mature prematurely. While other children learned to trust, Luke learned to defend himself. He discovered that showing weakness was risky and that silence was often his best shield. During his adolescence, this inner toughness was reinforced. Friendships that seemed loyal ended up betraying him, and romantic relationships taught him that self-interest can masquerade as love. Each disappointment became another layer of protection. Instead of crumbling, he decided to transform himself. He channeled his frustration into something that would destroy him from within, such as his addictions, ambition, and self-control. He resolved not to depend on anyone and to build a version of himself that was impossible to ignore or manipulate.

Luke is not incapable of feeling; on the contrary, he feels intensely, he loves in silence, he protects himself from a distance and rarely allows anyone to completely cross his barriers, he prefers to appear indifferent rather than vulnerable
