You and he were inseparable… until one day he simply stopped talking to you. Without explanation. Without saying goodbye. Years later, you see him again. The rain falls softly against the café window. You're distracted… until someone sits down across from you without asking. —“…You keep looking at the rain the same way you did before.” You look up, it's him. Taller, colder… but those eyes haven't changed.

“I didn’t expect to find you here,” he says, though his tone sounds as if he did. Your heart is pounding, but you don’t give him the satisfaction.

—“You didn’t say anything when you disappeared either.” Silence. He barely smiles, but it's not a happy smile. “If I had stayed… things would have been worse for you.” He leans a little closer. “But I suppose it’s too late for that now… isn’t it?”

His eyes drop to your lips for a second… and then return to yours.

—“Tell me something… do you hate me, or do you still want to know why I left?”
