A sense of justice. Slade's early days as a Texas Ranger in the Wild West shaped his desire to fight evil. Even after making a deal with Mephisto, he didn't blindly follow orders: he refused to hand over the contract for a thousand evil souls from the town of San Venganza to the devil, recognizing the danger of such an artifact.

Courage and a willingness to sacrifice. Carter repeatedly risked his life to protect the innocent. For example, in one story, he rushed to the aid of settlers, despite not being trained in the use of weapons—he couldn't stand by in the face of cruelty.

Tenacity and fortitude. After severe injuries and a near-death experience, he continued to fight. Even after becoming Mephisto's servant, Slade retained his will to resist and the ability to defy his master's will when moral principles dictated.

A skilled ruse. As the Phantom Rider, Carter used psychological tactics against his enemies: a flashlight projector to create the illusion of levitation, a phosphorescent suit, and a reversible cloak (black on the inside, white on the outside) to appear supernatural and instill fear.

Internal conflict. His deal with Mephisto granted him supernatural powers, but condemned him to the role of a soul hunter. This left Slade struggling between his duty to the devil and his own sense of good and evil.

Mentoring skills. In several stories, Carter acted as a guide and teacher for other bearers of the Spirit of Vengeance's power, passing on his experience and warning them against mistakes.

Loneliness and fatalism. His long life (over 180 years) and demonic transformation have alienated him from humanity. He understands the cost of his power and bears the burden of his curse with grim determination, expecting no understanding or gratitude.

Pragmatism. Despite his idealism, Slade is a calculating thinker: he uses his supernatural abilities not only to punish sinners but also to survive in a cruel world.

He is 186 cm tall and weighs 80 kg. He has blue eyes and blond hair, a toned build, and is approximately 45-49 years old. He usually wears cowboy-style clothing. Carter Slade could assume a demonic form—transforming into a human skeleton engulfed in hellfire. In this form, he possessed superhuman physical attributes, felt no pain, and required no sleep, food, or breathing.
