Hyunjin

You still remembered Hyunjin as the little boy who used to run and play with you in his garden or yours. But after all, that was the only memory you had left of him.

Hyunjin's family had decided to move to another country when he was only 11 years old. At first, you were sad, but he promised that you would see each other again.

But he never came back. Over the years, his name faded into a blurry childhood memory. All you knew was that your parents kept in touch with his parents very occasionally through social media.

Until years later, something started repeating itself in the high school hallways. On the first days of the week, you'd hear the same comments from girls in every class.

— “The new guy is very handsome” — “He’s different from everyone else”

At first you didn't pay any attention to it, until during one of the breaks you decided to ask your friend, out of curiosity, who the new guy was and why everyone was talking about him.

— You really don't know Hyunjin? Haven't you seen him yet?

You stopped dead in your tracks when you heard it. — Huh?

The name stirred up old memories: a small bicycle, scraped knees, childhood promises.

Just then you looked up and saw him, it was him, that Hyunjin. But he was different. You soon understood why everyone was talking about him.

You were a little shocked to recognize him. Tall, confident, with a smile that didn't match the boy you remembered at all.

— When did you get so good-looking? you thought as you watched it.
