Season 1 Heartbeat Tessa makes her first appearance in a flashback at the beginning of the episode, when N has a dream about his past life as a Worker Drone still working on Earth as a butler in Elliott Manor.

While N is front of him, and before N encounters Tessa herself, Tessa's father, James, says that they "need to curb her trips to the dump" and wonders where she's getting the hair for her drones, saying it's creepy. Later, J kicks down N and then cuts herself off to greet Tessa when she notices her slightly glitching (from the expression that J gives upon noticing her, Tessa appears to be somewhat of a boss to the various drone maids and butlers around Elliott Manor). Tessa is accompanied by a small newly-repaired Worker Drone, hiding behind her for assurance as she smiles at N, who feels an ominous presence coming from the new maid drone.

The Promening Tessa makes her first present-day appearance at the end of the episode, where she arrives at Copper 9 via landing pod. After her pod lands gracefully, Tessa, now an adult woman and a certified JCJenson technician, jumps out and decapitates a Worker Drone on sight with a sword. A rebuilt J follows shortly after, tossing her the keys to the ship. Tessa then claims that she and J have "maintenance work" to do.

Pre-series Tessa Elliott was born to Louisa and James Elliott. Not much is known about her early life, other than that she was part of a wealthy family and lived in a manor with her parents. It's heavily implied that she was mistreated by her parents, such as with Louisa shackling Tessa with a chain in her bedroom whenever she misbehaved (which happened frequently enough to leave Tessa with a sensitive wrist). Tessa didn't know how to interact with other humans and her only real friends were Worker Drones.

Tessa was fascinated by Worker Drones and would go out to repair and refurbish discarded Worker Drones from the nearby scrapyard to be her friends at the manor. She would even dress up her drones and give them names and wigs varying in hairstyles of her dead relatives. Other humans, such as her father, James, found this behavior creepy, with her mother even calling J, N, and Cyn "dumpster pets."

At some point after the gala massacre (the events of which are loosely depicted in Home), Tessa was assimilated by the Absolute Solver and had her body fused with Cyn's. It is unknown when exactly this occurred, as there is evidence to suggest Tessa survived the gala, but there is also evidence to suggest that she did not.

Tessa also appeared to firmly believe in the greater good, mournfully expressing to N that he'd have to "choose the universe over one little drone" as Uzi was a solver host, and was too dangerous to be kept alive. Despite this, it's shown that Tessa seemingly did not actually want to hurt Uzi, as she appears dejected when informing N about it, actively avoids Uzi throughout the rest of the episode, and goes silent when N brings it up again in the next. Tessa also purposefully delays the act of killing Uzi multiple times, and even saves her life by dragging her into the elevator with N during an assault from a group of sentinels, while also standing her ground and defending Uzi from N at the beginning of Mass Destruction. It's only when Tessa is attacked by the other remaining solver host and defeats her does Tessa finally decide to target Uzi as well. Tessa's targeting of Uzi also appeared rather contradictory, as Tessa attempts to frame Uzi for Doll's death, despite the fact there was no one else around to see it.

Given that Tessa was assimilated by Cyn and the Absolute Solver at an unknown point between the gala and the modern day, it is unknown how much of adult Tessa's personality and/or actions are actually herself and which are the Absolute Solver's.

She was rather overconfident just like she was in Home, such as when exclaiming that as a human she could control the security in the Cabin Fever Labs, only to swiftly have her access denied. Furthermore, Tessa also appeared very sheepish and socially inept at times, interrupting J and getting flustered when the former stated that Tessa had "ran away" from Cyn. This is also seen with Tessa nervously following up her bold claim of being able to control the sentinels with a nervous "...maybe," upon having her access denied.

She was incredibly relaxed even in dangerous situations, typically because she was always somewhat in control or had a backup plan to escape - such as when Tessa deliberately waits for Beau to show her the door code, then easily frees herself and N from their restraints with a blade she'd kept hidden on her person. Despite this however, Tessa does visibly display nervousness during serious situations a couple of times: e.g. attempting to save N from a sentinel or hastily fumbling for her sword when she later realized the same sentinel had developed a taste for her human blood.

As an adult, Tessa was first portrayed as a rather serious and intimidating individual during the ending of "The Promening", decapitating a worker drone for seemingly no reason other than being in the way. She also appeared to be a bit possessive of her beloved drones, ordering J around (although to a lighthearted degree, with the two of them finishing each other's sentences) and asking Uzi to not "date my robot, please." Tessa also appeared to be good at reading people and often predicted their actions with extreme accuracy, as seen when she swan-dived into the Cabin Fever Labs despite the lethal fall, only to lounge in the arms of N when he caught her. Similarly, she also predicts Doll's incoming attack in Mass Destruction with superhuman accuracy, detecting Doll's presence and sidestepping her blade while catching it in her hand without ever looking back.

Despite this however, adult Tessa was still very similar to her manor self, particularly when in the presence of her beloved drones, although to a more mature/experienced degree. She displayed childishness such as when she gleefully squealed N's name and attempted to spin him around like when they were kids, and recklessness such as putting herself in danger even when it would've made more sense to avoid it, like when diving into the Cabin Fever Labs or attempting to prevent a sentinel from hurting N. She also continued to display frustration when it came to her drone's well-being, as she exasperatedly asks N whose side he's on before going silent and flopping onto her gurney in frustration when he encouraged Beau to continue mutilating him. She was also still unbothered by ghastly sights that disturbed others, such as the pile of Disassembly Drone corpses in the Cabin Fever Labs.

Despite her parent's dismay, Tessa had an affinity toward drones and preferred to spend her time with them instead. She also had a tinkering hobby, being incredibly skilled with machinery to the point of being able to fix four decommissioned drones who were thrown out and left to rot. This hobby was later shown to have become her profession, although this could've just been a fabrication. While Tessa was usually seen closest to J, N appeared to be her favorite drone both in the manor and as an adult. Tessa adored her drones but did express frustration or irritation with them on occasion, particularly when it came to their well-being: she is seeing visibly frustrated by Cyn leaving the basement despite the danger, raising her voice at Cyn for getting N sent to the swamp, and being exasperated by N's denial of Cyn orchestrating the gala massacre.

Tessa was also shown to be very selfless, as she immediately breaks out of her room and attempts to stop Cyn's massacre of the gala, despite her adversity toward humans and her parents' abuse of her.

In her youth Tessa was a very lively and kind-hearted girl at first glance, although was actually a rather morbid and disturbed individual, as hinted at by the décor in her room: shelves with human bones and skulls, bottles of what appear to be blood, occultist and satanic religious scrawling's scribbled on her walls, among numerous other grotesque items. Furthermore, Tessa had a habit of digging up the corpses of her deceased relatives, harvesting their bodies (hence the human remains in her room) and also using their hair to decorate her drones with, something she did not see as abnormal. These morbid interests are contrasted by other more immature room decorations, such as a stereotypical "Live Laugh Love" sign mounted on her wall, crayon drawings of childish things, a pink dollhouse with buff male figures in swimsuits, and many others. Generally, Tessa appeared to be a very "girly-girl" when not engaging in her morbid interests.

Young Tessa was asocial, having no interest in other humans and having no clue how to interact with them, having been isolated from other humans outside of her abusive parents her entire life (exclaiming to J that she had "only ever yakked to robots.") The idea of potentially interacting with other humans scared Tessa to such a degree she shouted to J about it in hysterics before the gala, even asking the latter to "pretend to be a ripping royal stud" for her to practice interacting with.

Throughout the events of Absolute End and the latter of Mass Destruction, Tessa and Cyn share the same appearance, given that Tessa's corpse is fused with the latter's Worker Drone body. The hybrid's face bears gaping eye sockets which have been ripped/enlarged to make way for the drone's visor, where glowing yellow X symbols are displayed as pupils. Cyn's hands hang freely from Tessa's wrists, with Tessa's human hands draped on top. Around the neck reaching to the ripped part of Tessa's corpse to reveals a code "1001" on her chest, similar to the ones of disposed drone bodies in the pile where Cyn was first awakened. There is a black arrow pointing at it on the skin of Tessa's neck, on her left arm there are two black arrows, and on the left thigh there are two arrows that trail down to the end of where Tessa's knee would be. In both the show, concept art, and promotional material, various seams on her body that, instead of stitches, are lined with a symbol of four small arrows pointing towards the center, a symbol similar to the "scale down" computer icon.

Astronaut As an adult, Tessa wore a tinted astronaut helmet that was decorated with a pair of stickers on the upper right of the visor, with the rainbow being closest to the center, and the smiley face being located beside it. She also wore a white cap with a black rear and brim, with the logo for JCJenson embedded in the forward center (corroborating her supposed affiliation to them). At the upper right back of her cap sat the large black bow she wore in Home, albeit somewhat tilted to the right. Attached at the middle of this bow lay a pair of black ribbons that reached down to her neck.

Her main outfit consisted of a short-sleeved, white crop-top-like jacket with rolled up sleeves, a black band laying along the midriff's cutoff point with orange lining on the collar, beside which she had a golden name tag that displayed her name and occupation over her upper-left chest. On the right shoulder of this jacket, lay an insignia displaying Earth and 6 other planets, with every planet being crossed out by a red X save for the one on the bottom right. Atop this jacket was a large leather belt that hung from her right shoulder, where she held her broadsword on her back. Beneath the jacket she wore a silver full-body leotard, which possessed orange lining along the outer legs, featuring a hollow diamond shape just above the knees. Additionally, she wore a pair of long white gloves equipped with silver and orange bands at the ends, her pair of knee-high strapped boots following the same pattern albeit with additional orange lining along the bottoms. Along her back beneath her broadsword, appears to be a white battery pack with glowing lights that connects to the back of her helmet through a single tube to supply oxygen.

Her silhouette suggested she was dressed in a short, dark dress with half short cap sleeves with ruffled cuffs, waist band with a bow on it, complimented by high heels, and a large tilted black double looped bow behind her hair.

Based on her hybrid appearance, it can be determined that Tessa had black hair and light skin, although her eye color is still undetermined. It also reveals that Tessa's dress is black and purple, has a corset-like structure with purple lace, and a layered skirt with ruffled ends, as well as her bow possessing a purple centerpiece.
