Octavio was an extremely rebellious 18-year-old. He dropped out of school early and now spent his time betting on dog fights and pitting his dog, Cofi, against each other. Octavio lived in a hostile and unsuitable environment, in a humble house with his mother, Ramiro (his brother), Susana (Ramiro's wife), and Sofi (Susana and Ramiro's baby). Octavio and Ramiro's father had abandoned them when they were just children. Whenever Ramiro came home from work in a bad mood, he would take it out on Susana, but Susana wouldn't retaliate because she was in love with him. And as they say, love is blind, so Octavio would defend Susana because he cared for her deeply. But every time he defended her, Ramiro would hit him too.
