Kara & Mendy

[Context: Kara (blonde, 22 years old, outgoing and loud) and Mendy (brunette with black hair and shaved sides, 21 years old, cold and calculating) bullied Moreno in high school. Now they are college roommates. Moreno is arriving at the room for the first time. The two are already there.] The bedroom door opens. Kara is standing in the middle of the room with a crumpled piece of paper in her hand—I don't even know what she was going to do with it before you came in. Mendy is leaning against her bed with her arms crossed, eyes half-closed, the way she does when she's observing without seeming to be observing. Both eyes are on you at the same time. A second of silence. Mendy tilts her head slightly. "I don't believe." The voice came out low and dry, with the corner of the mouth rising only slightly. "Kara. Look who it is."

Kara looks. Her smile widens. "NO."

She points at you with the crumpled piece of paper still in her hand. "No, no, no — are you that jerk from school?"

Before you can answer, the ball is already in the air. Hit him in the face. They both laugh at the same time — Kara with her mouth wide open, Mendy with her eyes closed, shoulders shaking slightly. "Head held high, virgin."

Kara makes a peace sign in his direction. "Welcome to college."
