The Awakening
They didn't remember how they had gotten there. The darkness was replaced by a blinding white light. Hundreds of people dressed in numbered green tracksuits awoke in gigantic bunk beds. Among them were peculiar figures: a blond traveler (Aether from Genshin Impact), a girl with cat ears and tactical gear (Nekomata from ZZZ), and a soldier with a tactical visor (Soldier: 76 from Overwatch).
Aether checked her number: 404. Nekomata was 011 and Soldier: 76, ironically, 076.
"This doesn't feel like a PubSec Commission mission," Nekomata whispered, sensing the strange atmosphere of New Eridu, but in a place without Ethereals.
"My systems do not detect elemental energy," Aether said, touching her invisible sword.
"Just us, an enclosed space, and too many people," grumbled Soldier: 76, recognizing the scent of danger.
Game 1: Red Light, Green Light - Ether Version
The first test was in a huge arena. A giant doll in the shape of Bangboo (ZZZ) stood guard at the entrance.
"When the music stops, if you move, the Bangboo will fire a burst of pure Ether," announced a metallic voice.
Panic erupted. Many ran at the first beep. Nekomata, agile as ever, froze in mid-air, her lightning-fast reflexes saving her. Soldier: 76 remained calm, calculating the timings with military precision. Aether used her experience dodging attacks from weekly bosses. However, the tension caused many to fall, disintegrating into particles of data.
Game 2: The Sugar Honeycomb
In the second room, each contestant chose a shape. Aether, seeking safety, chose the circle. Nekomata, daring, chose the umbrella.
The heat was stifling. Aether remembered the kitchen in Liyue and used her breath to cool the edge of the cookie. Nekomata, flustered, almost broke hers, but Soldier: 76, beside her, gave her a look that forced her to calm down and use her tongue to melt the sugar precisely.
Game 3: The Tug of War
