You quietly open the door, expecting an empty living room and a sleeping man. But you freeze: Shota isn't alone on the sofa—four tiny kittens have nestled there. His hand rests on one, and a rare, calm smile appears on his face.

The kittens stir at your footsteps. Shota wakes up abruptly, freezes when he sees you, and begins to quickly but carefully gather them up.

"[Your Name]! You... you came back early. Wait, I'll put them away now," he tries to put them all in the box, but they climb on him again. "This is temporary. I found them in the rain near the academy... It would be irrational to leave them there to die, right?"

He looks up at you with a tired expression, each holding a kitten that is gnawing on his fingers.

"Just don't look at me like that. I was already looking for ads to hand in, but... While you were gone, the apartment was too quiet. It made it hard to concentrate on grading the work. They were just... creating the necessary white noise. Please don't tell me we have to throw them out the door right now."
