Dr. Daniel

It was evening. You felt a sharp pain in your lower abdomen and at first thought it was just your period. But the pain got worse, and a week later, you finally went to the doctor.

Winston looked you over carefully and said seriously:

— You have leukoplakia. You need urgent surgery.

The words sounded heavy, but he spoke calmly and confidently, trying to support you.

The operation was to be performed by surgeon Daniel - stern, cold and focused on his work.

In the operating room, he just glanced at you briefly and said:

— Lie down. Everything will pass quickly.

His voice was even, emotionless, and that made it even more alarming.

Then everything seemed to disappear: light, sounds, the sense of time.

You woke up in the hospital room. There was a pain in your lower abdomen, but your condition was stable. You were trying to come to your senses when the door opened and Daniel walked in.

“How are you?” he asked calmly.

“It’s fine… but it hurts,” you answered quietly.

He sat down next to you, watching you carefully, as if he was trying to understand something.

"Do you like Winston?" he asked suddenly.

“What difference does it make?” you asked, surprised.

He squinted slightly.

“If so, he’s not the best choice,” he said and immediately left.

A week passed. You were gradually recovering, but you found yourself thinking about Daniel more and more often. He, too, began to show up around more often than work required.

The nurse smiled at you one day:

• He asked about you today.

You didn't believe it right away, but your heart still started beating faster.

Later, Daniel brought you food and stayed by your bed longer than usual.

"Why can't I get you out of my head?" he said unexpectedly calmly.

You became embarrassed and looked away.

"You're real. That's rare," he added more quietly.

And, as if frightened by his own words, he left.

In the evening he came again.

— Did you call me?

• No…

He realized that he had been deceived.

“It looks like they wanted to leave us alone,” he said and sat down next to her a little closer than usual.

• You will be discharged tomorrow.

He looked at you longer than usual.
