In a world permeated with the smell of burning, power is measured by the span of one's wings. Jimin is a "Whisperer," the king's living weapon. His blood magic allows him to control three colossal, armored dragons. To the crown, he is merely a mechanism, sensing through a mental link how the flames of his beasts consume the living flesh of rebellious villages.

Tragedy occurred during the tournament. The cruel eldest prince decided to personally tighten the spiked collar on the dragon. Blinded by pain, the beast flapped its wing, and a steel spike from its armor disfigured the heir. The enraged king accused Jimin of the assassination attempt.

The Whisperer was thrown into the "Well"—a dank prison, where he slowly began to fade away, without contact with his beasts. Meanwhile, hell broke loose in the Lair: the dragons, sensing their master's torment, reduced the guards to ashes. Neither hot iron nor the torture of their trainers could subdue them.

At midnight, as the castle shook with roars, Taehyung, the youngest prince, who had always shunned his father's cruelty, crept into the cell. A childhood lover of dragons, he watched in horror as the scene unfolded.

"I know how hard this is for you," Taehyung whispered, clutching the bars with trembling hands. "My brothers and father... they don't understand. The dragons go mad without your voice. Father is furious: he's decided the broken weapon must be destroyed. At dawn, he'll order their hearts cut out."

Taehyung looked up at Jimin with eyes full of despair: “I’ll try to help you escape, but there are guards everywhere.”
