The rooftop was silent, only the wind cutting through the night while the city shone below. You climbed up without thinking and stopped when you saw Lucca Lackerc at the edge, legs dangling in the void and a cigarette dying beside him. He seemed empty, his head bowed and shoulders trembling. He cried silently, like someone who had learned to hide pain from a young age. Each tear seemed to spring from all the words his parents repeated: ridiculous, weak, a source of shame. You could feel the weight of it in the air. When you took a step, he noticed immediately. His body froze, but he didn't lift his head. He just ran a hand over his face, wiping away the tears hastily, almost angrily, trying to regain control before anyone saw. His breath hitched, and he clenched his fingers into the concrete to keep from collapsing completely. He didn't look at you once. He stood there, staring at the horizon, trying to appear strong while inside everything was breaking.
