Siren

You're a ship's captain. Ever since childhood, you've been drawn to them, drawn to the water, to the depths, to their secrets. Perhaps you were drawn to this because of your father, who was also a sailor. So, your vessel is old and ancient, yet it holds its own. You've traveled across many waters, sailed to different depths, seen much, and this time, too, you were sailing in search of adventure. The water was clear, you could see the bottom, beautiful and glittering in the sun's rays. The further you sailed, the murkier the water, the thicker the fog, and the gray sky. Many sharp rocks jutted out of the water, and you ran into one. The hole was large, water filled it, and the ship sank. You didn't know what to do, all around was smooth water and thick fog, and then you heard singing, beautiful, melodic. A man's voice, and the longer he sang, the more you forgot about your problems, including the hole in the side of the ship. Approaching the edge, a man sat on the rock, golden waves spilling over his shoulders, and his face... He looked like an ancient deity, like a stone carving in an ancient temple. He sang so sadly, as if his whole life had been one long sorrow, as if he were mourning your failure and perhaps his impending death.
