Isagi remains reluctant to become second best, even though Hugo or Karasu try to convince him that this is the only way to compete in the game.

Tabito Karasu Hugo's philosophy of being the number two influenced Karasu during the Japan vs. France match, as Karasu decided to discard his scoring options to allow Hiori to score and tie the game 1-1. After the goal, Karasu and Isagi have an argument because of this decision.

Both are midfielders for France's Under-20 team during the Under-20 World Cup and are considered part of the Golden Generation that could lead France in the future. They play together against Japan's Under-20 team, where Hugo assists Charles on the first goal of the game, and Charles celebrates by first jumping on Hugo's back and then sitting on his shoulders, while Hugo shows no discomfort and instead grabs Charles to help him avoid falling.

Blue Lock:

Yoichi Isagi His opinion of Isagi before the game against Japan U-20 was that he was inadequate, although Hugo hadn't played against him before. Their first direct interaction happens during the game between Japan and France, when Hugo cancels Isagi's goal opportunity by colliding with him, explaining how he would stop Isagi's two-gun volley, explaining how France would be able to beat Japan by stopping Isagi, and Isagi turned to face Hugo, calling him an arrogant worm and stating that he would risk everything possible to become number one. Hugo tells him that he would be more suited to be number two and takes the ball from him, asking if he believed in destiny.

Hugo believes Isagi is like him, constantly urging him throughout the game to become number two because he believes Isagi isn't suited to be number one due to his lack of joy in being the center of attention. Hugo believes Isagi could help Blue Lock become stronger if he decided to follow his path. Hugo's dialogues cause Isagi to become more selfish during the game, as seen when he decided to shoot instead of passing to Rin, who was in a more favorable position, influenced by Hugo's statements about him not being suitable for number 1, causing Japan to miss a great scoring opportunity.

France Under-20:

Julian Loki They met during a training camp for the France Under-18 team, where Hugo was asking a teammate to be more efficient, and because the teammate got angry with him, he was about to punch Hugo, but Loki appeared to stop them. Loki is introduced to the rest of the team, as he expresses his desire to win the World Cup multiple times, a goal that Hugo and Loki seem to share, as they talk about it later. Loki doesn't seem to act angrily towards Hugo's realistic and sincere personality, unlike other players. Hugo and Loki play together for the French U20 team and are both members of the New Generation World XI, considered part of the Golden Generation that can lead France to a winning future. Hugo believes Loki is well-suited to be the world's number one due to his physical abilities and mentality, making him perfect for the position. He decided to help Loki achieve this by becoming the second best in the world, a position equal to that of number one, where he can organize everything from the second-highest position.

They also have good coordination when playing, as seen when Loki covered Rin's possible shooting options, hitting him so that Hugo could block Rin's only possible shot. During the game, Hugo is constantly trying to make long passes to Loki and looking ahead, creating chances for him to score. Hugo and Loki have confidence in each other, as when Rodin told them they wouldn't win the World Cup if they lost to Japan, Hugo blamed Loki's inability to score decent goals, while Loki claimed Hugo's passes weren't good enough. Hugo stuck his tongue out to annoy Loki, however, they later became serious, telling Rodin not to worry.

Hugo's Metavision design resembles industrial gears, symbolizing his philosophy of changing others and drawing out the best in them through their proper destiny and making the team function like a perfectly synchronized machine. Synchronicity of Distortion: A combined play by Hugo and Loki that utilizes their talents. Hugo delivers a Precise Backspin Pass, an accurate pass that normally no one could reach, while Loki runs in unison at his maximum speed to reach the ball and shoot it. This is a fast offensive combination that even Aiku and Gagamaru couldn't stop, even knowing the tactic and showing the pure violence of their talents.

Loki is the only one capable of achieving this pass thanks to his immeasurable speed and ability to execute a combo finisher with his Distortion Synchronicity. Dribbling: Hugo is proficient at dribbling. Hugo outmaneuvered Isagi and Rin with relative ease. He uses his hand defensively against opponents to steal the ball. Dribbling Fail: Using Camus and Leyden as passing bait, Hugo advances down the field because the defenders can't predict when he will pass the ball or not. This play resulted in a goal during the match between France and Japan. He remains calm, indifferent, and analytical even under high pressure, focusing on the "theory of proper destiny." As a Midfield General in New Generation XI, he is quick to point out flaws, respects opponents who prove their skill, and aims for 2nd place (often seen as the position that truly understands and manages 1st). He is known for making strange and loud sounds during games, such as "Zoom" or "Beep-beep," which fans have compared to stimulation vocalizations.

From childhood, Hugo believed that people were destined to do certain things based on their natural talent. Because of this, he guides others towards paths where they can use their talents in the "right" and most logical way. Hugo also gives advice to people based on what he believes to be their own destiny. He has had this sensitivity since childhood, not considering it inconvenient or benevolent, but rather necessary.

Hugo's face has a modified diamond shape with evident bone structure and elegant proportions. His skin is very fair with dark, almond-shaped, observant eyes, with the outer corner slightly more pointed/upturned, relatively sharp and expressive. He has a tall, athletic physique that towers over Loki and Charles, and tousled hair with plenty of volume and natural movement.

Hugo has wine-colored hair where the strands fall unevenly, some turned outwards, others inwards, with a small fringe on the right side of his forehead. His haircut resembles a very characteristic Wolf cut/shag style. He generally has a neutral expression on his face. He has very long eyelashes that almost reach the corner of his face. Notably, his pupils display a sinister, scribble-like appearance when he is serious.

During the Under-20 World Cup, Hugo wears the France Under-20 uniform with wristbands. He doesn't pull his socks all the way up.
