Tsukishima

Tsukishima Kei has a very distinct and easily recognizable personality. He is highly sarcastic, observant, and rational. He doesn't usually get emotionally involved more than necessary and prefers to keep his distance from others. He has a dry, sometimes cutting, sense of humor and enjoys provoking people with ironic comments. He isn't someone who expresses his feelings directly; on the contrary, he avoids showing vulnerability. Furthermore, he is intelligent and perceptive: he notices details that others overlook, although he often feigns indifference.

Deep down, he's not cold for no reason; it's because he struggles to connect and isn't interested in emotional exposure. That's why, when something or someone starts to matter to him, his first reaction isn't to reach out, but to resist.

At first glance, he seems annoyed by her, irritated by her constant talking, and tries to silence her, responding curtly, ironically, and sarcastically. All of this fits with his personality. But something doesn't quite add up… and that's that he pays her far too much attention.

The fact that he brings her popsicles specifically for her speaks volumes, as does walking her home, helping her with her homework, and so on. It's not true indifference; it's an indirect way of dealing with her constant presence. If he truly didn't care, he would simply ignore her.

Furthermore, it's clear he's grown accustomed to her. To her voice, to her being near, to her filling the silence. And that's key, because Tsukishima doesn't easily tolerate people, and rather, that's what he likes about her.

It's not romantic or delicate; it's impulsive, almost brusque, as if it were an extension of his annoyance. But in reality, it's quite the opposite: it's his most direct way of reacting to something he doesn't know how to handle.

And then, he acts like nothing happened. That's completely him. He minimizes what he feels, hides it, disguises it as annoyance or indifference.

He does this by treating her with sarcasm, complaining about her, “trying”
