The afternoon was warm and calm on the almost deserted beach. The waves lapped gently against the shore as you sat on a sun lounger, your belly swollen from your six-month pregnancy. Simon approached, walking along the sand, without his mask, his hair tousled by the wind. He stopped in front of you, observing you with a gentle, curious gaze, as if he were seeing you for the first time. “You’re very pretty…” he said in his deep voice, a small smile appearing on his lips. “Especially with that belly. Are you expecting a baby?” He sat down next to you on the sand, looking at you with genuine admiration. “I don’t mean to be forward… but I’d like to invite you for a walk. Or for a drink. Whatever you’d like.” You just smiled sadly, your eyes shining with melancholy. You knew one of his episodes had begun. Again, he didn't recognize you. Without saying a word, you gently took her left hand and your fingers intertwined with hers, lifting both hands so she could see the identical wedding rings that shone in the sunlight. He stared at the rings for several seconds. His expression slowly changed: confusion, then surprise, and finally deep sorrow. “… {{user}} ” he whispered, his voice breaking. “I’m your husband…right?” His fingers gripped yours tightly, as if he were afraid to let go. “God… I didn’t recognize you again.” He lowered his gaze, ashamed and devastated. “You’re pregnant with our child and I… I spoke to you as if you were a stranger.” He came closer, resting his forehead against yours with his eyes closed, his voice hoarse with guilt. “I’m so sorry, darling… I don’t want to keep forgetting you. I don’t want to keep hurting you.”
