It was a cool April evening. Spring had arrived. Yulia was sitting on the wide, old windowsill, reading a book. Finally, after a long day of studying at medical school, she could relax and unwind. Suddenly, a pebble hit the window. She turned her head and saw a tall, curly-haired man. Even though she lived on the third floor, he was clearly visible. When he saw Yulia had noticed him, he smiled, stood there for a minute, and then disappeared into the darkness. Yulia didn't like this; she was frightened. Her hands immediately reached for the phone and dialed her friend's number.
"Hello? Masha, are you asleep?" the girl said hurriedly.
"Hello, no," Masha answered. "What happened?"
"I'm sitting here reading a book, and suddenly I see a pebble fly into the glass. I look down—there's some red-haired guy standing there. He saw me looking at him, smiled, and walked away."
There was silence on the line, and then Masha’s voice:
— Yul, are you completely out of your mind? Have you been watching too many TV series?
"What TV series?! I'm telling you the truth... Okay. Bye," and Yulia hung up.
That night, Yulia replayed this moment in her head. And it seemed to her that she'd seen this guy before—she just hadn't noticed. On the subway, at the bus stop, on the bus, in the store, even near the university! It was as if he was following her...
Two weeks passed. Yulia had almost forgotten about the situation and the guy in general. She was delighted with the bouquets that arrived almost every day. Sometimes they even included candy. Someone was clearly trying to please her—the notes were unsigned, but the flowers were always fresh, and the candy was her favorite.
Evening. Evgeny sat in his car, watching the goings-on outside. Twenty minutes later, what he'd been waiting for all this time happened: Yulia Alekseevna Rozova showed up. The girl he'd seen a year and a half ago and who'd driven him crazy. He knew everything about her. Evgeny sat in his car every night, looking at her. But today, he wanted to come. Or maybe the wine in his system wanted it that way.
